How to read e-mail with Outlook Express (Windows XP / 2000)

1) Click on Manage my e-mail account in the control panel on your domain.

2) Create a password of at least 4 characters for your new account. It takes about an hour for the account to be set up.

3) Open Outlook Express. Click on Tools / Accounts...

4) Press the Add button and select e-mail.

5) Enter your e-mail address in the Username field and press Next.

6) A window appears. Re-enter your e-mail address and press Next.

7) Select POP3 in the Inbound e-mail server field.

8) Enter mail.<domainname> in both the POP3 server and SMTP server fields.

9) For example, if your domain is www.pippo.it, the server name is mail.pippo.it.

10) After entering the server name in both fields, press Next.

11) A window appears requesting your account name and password.

12) Enter your complete e-mail address (e.g. mail@pippo.it) in the username field.

13) You will not be able to access your account if you do not enter your complete e-mail address.

14) In the password field, enter the password previously configured in your domain’s control panel.

15) You can leave the Remember password box checked for convenience’s sake.

16) Press Next.

17) Another window opens. Press Finish.

18) Please note: configuration is not complete! You can now receive e-mail but not send it.

19) Close all the open windows. Only the program should be open.

20) Click on Tools / Accounts...

21) Double-click on the account you have just created (e.g. mail.pippo.it).

22) A window appears. Select Server (at the top).

23) At the bottom, select the checkbox for outbound e-mail. This should be the last item in the list and is called Server authentication required. Do not select the checkbox at the top of the list on password-protected authentication of inbound e-mail.

24) Press OK and the window will close. Press the Close button (in the bottom right-hand corner) on the remaining window.

25) Attempt sending a message to one of your existing e-mail addresses. Press the Send/Receive button.

26) If the message is delivered successfully and no error messages appear, configuration is completed.
